Arbitration
Arbitration is a cost-effective and fast alternative to litigation
Arbitration is a fast, cost-effective and confidential alternative to court proceedings. It is widely used to resolve business disputes. Arbitration is a possible means of dispute resolution in civil disputes where settlement is allowed.
Trained arbitrator
Airakorpi law firm assists in various arbitration proceedings. Our partner is also an arbitrator trained by the Central Chamber of Commerce and we act as arbitrators in various arbitration proceedings.
The Arbitration Institute of the Finland Chamber of Commerce (FAI) provides arbitration and mediation services for resolving domestic and international disputes.
We handle arbitration proceedings conducted under the FAI rules, i.e., the Arbitration Rules of the Finland Chamber of Commerce or the Rules for Expedited Arbitration of the Finland Chamber of Commerce. We also handle proceedings under the Mediation Rules of the Finland Chamber of Commerce. In addition, we also carry out ad hoc proceedings that are not subject to the FAI rules.
Bear in mind the arbitration procedure already when drawing up the contract
Dispute resolution should be considered already at the contracting stage. To avoid disputes, companies should pay attention to the dispute resolution clauses in their contracts, as the choice of an appropriate dispute resolution clause can contribute to the effective resolution of a dispute in advance and thus manage risks. Arbitration clauses are commonly used in contracts such as shareholder, construction, consultancy, distribution and IT contracts. FAI recommends the use of a model arbitration clause.
If necessary, the arbitration procedure can also be agreed after a dispute has arisen.
